Elevator Enthusiast
A Triangle key can fuel the elevator enthusiast with expectancy cause each triangle key opens a different elevator journey.
Not a lot of people know it's technically possible to get on the top of the elevator.
There is also an exciting moment before the doors open when you go to a floor you've never before as you won't know what's out there.
Thought the investigation of riding elevators and interview someone who has great enthusiast on elevators, this is an opportunity to explore the idea of empathy. We can only have empathy with people similar to oneself. We all have hobbies: fishing, hiking, collecting candy packages, cosplay etc.. Some of the hobbies might be considered as ‘unusual’ or ‘unintelligible’, some are even been judged as ‘inappropriate’ or ‘inferior’. What makes hobbies different from each? Is all hobbies, in some way, pose us as enthusiasts? We should celebrate about those who find the sparks within our daily routine, in this case, taking the elevator. They are observant and got the spirit of celebrating everyday life through the practicing of their enthusiasm. Through the exercise, my way of seeing the world has changed. I went from surprised about the idea that there are people fascinated by elevators to actually enjoy every elevator trips I take. Except of seeing it as a tool that brings people from a level to another, elevators are vehicle in architectures. They transport people vertically and the different views we witness from different heights in buildings brings curiosity and make us question about how different it can be between floor to floor. I might not be madly in love with elevators but it is sure that we can be aware of the details and potential in everyday life as a designer.
